11 January 2006 -- The Russian Foreign Ministry says Russia and the United States share a "deep disappointment" over Iran's decision to resume nuclear research.
A Foreign Ministry statement said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had expressed their disappointment in a telephone conversation on 10 January in which they discussed a range of regional issues.
Iran on 10 January broke seals placed by the UN on its uranium-enrichment facility at Natanz in order to resume research into the nuclear fuel cycle. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
