Five Killed In Afghan Suicide Attack

(RFE/RL) 2 February 2006 -- The Afghan Defense Ministry says that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a checkpoint in Afghanistan, killing himself, three soldiers and a civilian.

The attack happened in southeastern Khost Province on 1 February as Afghan soldiers were checking vehicles. Three soldiers were also wounded in the blast.


Taliban fighters are being blamed for ther attack.


It's the latest in a wave of deadly suicide bombings in Afghanistan in recent months. Most of the attacks have been claimed by the Taliban.
