2 February 2006 -- Five more U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq.
The U.S. military released statements today saying that three of the troops were killed by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad. Two troops were killed in separate shooting incidents, one south of the capital, the other near Al-Fallujah. The military statements say they were all killed on 1 February.
Meanwhile, fighting was reported between U.S. forces and local Shi'ite militia in Baghdad's Al-Sadr City district today. One civilian casualty was reported.
And reports say that Iraqi police have found several bodies near Al-Yusifiyah, south of Baghdad. Reports say the victims were bound and blindfolded before they were shot execution-style.
