Red Cross Employee Briefly Detained In Chechnya

(RFE/RL) 23 February 2006 -- An employee with the International Committee of the Red Cross was briefly detained in Chechnya late on 22 February.
Chechnya's chief prosecutor said Adam Ibragimov was detained less than an hour in Grozny and questioned. The prosecutor, Valery Kuznetsov, did not explain why Ibragimov was held.


The local director of the Memorial human rights group, Aleksandr Cherkasov, expressed concern over the incident.
