March 22, 2006 - The UN war crimes court today cut the life sentence of Bosnian Serb Milomir Stakic to 40 years for overseeing detention camps for Croats and Muslims during the 1990s Balkan conflict.
Stakic, who is 44, was found guilty in July 2003 of war crimes and crimes against humanity for his role as Prijedor mayor in the atrocities perpetrated against non-Serbs in the Omarska, Keraterm, and Trnopolje camps.
