The Iranian hydroplane boat that was tested on April 4 (Fars) April 4, 2006 -- Iran says it has successfully tested what officials call a "super-modern flying boat."

State television says the boat was tested this week during war games. It showed no footage of the vessel, however.

Before the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iran's navy had one of the largest hovercraft fleets in the world. Military experts say only about 10 decrepit vessels remain in service.

Earlier in the exercises, which started March 31, Iran said it had tested a radar-evading rocket and a high-speed underwater missile.
