Iranian Police Arrest Kurds Over Riots In 2005

(RFE/RL) April 10, 2006 -- Iranian police have arrested seven activists from a banned Kurdish group and charged them with inciting ethnic rioting last year.

The seven are members of the PEJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) group.

Iranian authorities say they were involved in clashes in the West Azerbaijan province in which at least 17 people were killed.
