50,000 Turn Out For Karachi Funeral Of Sunni Leaders

Pakistanis protest in Islamabad yesterday against the April 10 bomb blast at a religious gathering in Karachi that killed more than 50 people (epa) April 13, 2006 -- Some 50,000 people attended funeral processions in Karachi today for Sunni Muslim leaders who were among the 57 people killed in a suicide bombing this week.
Several leaders of the moderate Sunni Tehrik group were among those killed in the blast on April 10 during a religious ceremony in a public park.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but there were fears it could spark sectarian violence between Pakistan's Sunnis and Shi'ites.

Pakistani troops were deployed to the streets of Karachi today in the wake of the bombing.
