Georgian Water Following Wine Onto Russian Blacklist

"Borjomi" mineral water (Courtesy Photo) April 18, 2006 -- Just weeks after banning imports of Georgian wine, Russia has moved against imports of a number of types of Georgian mineral water.

Authorities in the Moscow region on April 18 impounded a batch of Georgia's "Nabeghlavi" mineral water, after announcing recently they were considering a ban on "Borjomi," Georgia's best-known brand of mineral water.

Russia says the products do not meet health standards.

Georgia has condemned the moves as political.
