Afghanistan Calls On Pakistan To Bolster Fight With Taliban

A Pakistani soldier on the border with Afghanistan (file photo) (epa) April 18, 2006 -- Afghanistan demanded today that Pakistan intensify the fight against remnants of the Taliban movement on the Pakistani side of the border.

The call from President Hamid Karzai's spokesperson, Rahim Karimi, comes a month after the countries accused each other of not doing enough to combat militants targeting U.S.-led coalition and Afghan forces.


Afghanistan and Pakistan share a porous border that stretches for 2,500 kilometers.
