April 24, 2006 -- China says it has agreed to supply Iran with 50 passenger trains in a deal worth nearly $60 million.
The official Xinhua news agency said the agreement to deliver the double-decker trains was formalized on April 23 at a signing ceremony in Tehran.
The report said China will provide Iran with a loan covering 85 percent of the purchase price. The trains are to be delivered to Iran over the course of 28 months.
