Iran's President Says No Need To Talk With U.S. On Iraq

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad addressing a press conference in Tehran on ApriI 24 (epa) April 24, 2006 -- Iranian President Mahmud Ahmedinejad says there is no need for talks with the United States concerning Iraq now that Baghdad is trying to form a permanent government.

Washington had sought contacts with Tehran to discuss the political situation in Iraq.


Iran has been a supporter of Iraqi Shi'ite political parties and maintained close ties with their leaders.
