Three Militants Killed In Southern Afghanistan

(RFE/RL) May 10, 2006 -- An Afghan official reports that police killed three militants in a clash early today in Helmand Province.

Muhaiuddin Khan, a spokesman for the province's governor, said the militants were killed after trying to ambush a police patrol.

Helmand Province, along with other provinces in southern Afghanistan, has been the site of frequent clashes between insurgents and Afghan and international troops, particularly in recent months.
