June 6, 2006 -- A Chechen jailed for life for his role in the bloody hostage crisis in Beslan in 2004 has filed an appeal with Russia's Supreme Court, his lawyer says.
A court in North Ossetia last month found Nurpashi Kulayev guilty of murder and terrorism. The crisis ended in the deaths of 331 people dead, more than half of them children. Kulayev is the sole surviving hostage taker.
