ICTY Sentences Muslim Srebrenica Commander

Naser Oric listening to the verdict in The The Hague today (epa) June 30, 2006 -- The International War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) today sentenced the former Muslim commander of the Bosnian enclave of Srebrenica to two years in prison.

Naser Oric was found guilty of failing to prevent his subordinates from killing and torturing Serb captives. He was, though, acquitted of direct involvement in murder and torture.


The judge ordered his immediate release because he has already been detained for more than three years.
