July 13, 2006 -- Coalition and Afghan forces killed at least 19 Taliban after a group of rebels surrounded a police station in the southern province of Helmand, a provincial spokesperson said today.
A group of some 200 rebels on July 12 drove into the town of Nawzad and, after clearing a nearby bazaar, surrounded the police compound.
Coalition warplanes responded by launching attacks that hit several insurgent positions.
