July 31, 2006 -- President Viktor Yushchenko met today with his former Orange Revolution rival Viktor Yanukovych to discuss ways out of Ukraine's four-month-old political crisis.
Talks between Yushchenko, his former Orange Revolution allies, and the pro-Russian parliamentary majority, which nominated Yanukovych for prime minister, have so far yielded no agreement.
Yushchenko has until August 2 to submit Yanukovych's nomination to parliament. After that, he can dissolve the legislature and call early elections.
