August 4, 2006 -- The U.S. military has charged six Marines with assault in connection with alleged attacks that injured civilians in the Iraqi village of Al-Hamandiyah in April.
Officials said the charges arose from a separate investigation into the
murder of an Iraqi male civilian on April 26.
Three of the six Marines
facing the assault charges have already been charged with murder in
that case.
