Iran's Supreme Leader Urges Muslims To Back Hizballah

Scene from a rally in Tehran in support of Lebanon (Fars) August 8, 2006 -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei today launched a fresh call to Muslims worldwide to support Hizballah in its fight against Israel.

Speaking on the anniversary of the birth of Imam Ali, whom Shi'a regard as the first rightful successor of the Prophet Muhammad, Khamenei said that defending the Lebanese Shi'te militant group is the duty of "the whole of Muslim society."


Khamenei made a similar plea on August 2.
