12 Suspected Taliban Killed In Eastern Afghanistan

U.S. soldiers in the valleys of Nuristan Province (file photo) (epa) August 9, 2006 -- The U.S. military in Afghanistan says coalition forces have killed 12 suspected Taliban militants in the eastern province of Nuristan, near Pakistan.

A U.S. military spokesman in Kabul, Tom Collins, says two U.S. troops and an Afghan soldier were wounded in the fighting, on August 8.


Nuristan is one of the Afghan provinces where Taliban fighters are most active.
