August 23, 2006 -- The trial of the ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein for genocide has been adjourned at the request of his lawyers.
The adjournment comes after just three days of testimony against Hussein and his six codefendants.
They stand accused of orchestrating the killing of up to 182,000 Kurdish civilians.
The trial is scheduled to reopen on September 11.
