August 30, 2006 -- Russia plans to create women-only traffic-police units because commanders believe they are less corrupt than men.
Russia's "Izvestia" daily quotes regional police chief Mikhail Tsukruk as saying research proves women are not as inclined to take bribes.
He says the first platoon of female traffic officers will patrol the center of Volgograd, in southern Russia. Some 35,000 people are killed on Russia's roads each year.
