NATO, Afghan Troops Kill 92 Taliban

British soldiers on patrol in Helmand Province (file photo) (AFP) September 11, 2006 -- The NATO alliance said today that its troops in Afghanistan, operating together with Afghan soldiers, have killed another 92 Taliban militants in the southern part of the country.

NATO said the deaths came September 10 in air and artillery strikes as part of a major counterinsurgent operation in the area.


The death toll adds to the 94 insurgents that NATO said it had killed earlier in the weekend. The Taliban have disputed the death toll.
