September 19, 2006 -- Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas today said that Lithuania will restitute property confiscated from Jews during the Nazi and Soviet occupations, but stressed that not all property will be returned in kind.
Kirkilas said on Lithuanian radio that "Jews were and are Lithuanian citizens."
She said the restitution is an inevitable decision and "we shall search for solutions."
Kirkilas said some property will be returned and some of it may be compensated for with money.
