Militants Kill 19 In Southern Afghanistan

Afghan militants and members of the Taliban pictured after surrendering under the terms of a government amnesty (file photo) (epa) September 22, 2006 -- The Afghan Interior Ministry says suspected Taliban militants today killed 19 people in an attack on a bus carrying Afghan construction workers.

Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said the attack occurred in southern Kandahar Province.


Bashary said the insurgents first exploded a roadside bomb as the bus passed, then opened fire on the vehicle.
