Baghdad Police Recover 50 Bodies

(RFE/RL) October 2, 2006 -- Police in Iraq say at least 50 corpses were discovered scattered around Baghdad over the past 24 hours.

The bodies bore bullet wounds and were most likely the victims of violence between Sunni and Shi'ite armed groups.

Some of the bodies bore signs of torture.

Meanwhile, officials in Baghdad say gunmen wearing military uniforms kidnapped 14 people in a raid in the center of the capital, one day after 26 workers at a food factory were seized. There was no word on their fate.

The AP reports that at least 10 people were killed in attacks across Iraq today.
