Russia Warns Of Terror Threat Against Dams

The Volzhskaya hydroelectric project near Volgograd (file photo) (ITAR-TASS) November 7, 2006 -- The head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) says his agency has information that terrorists are planning attacks against hydroelectric plants in southern Russia.

FSB Director Nikolai Patrushev said there were threats against hydroelectric facilities in the Volgograd, Rostov, Saratov regions, as well as in the North Caucasus Republic of Daghestan.


Patrushev told a meeting of the Antiterrorism Committee the threats were "absolutely realistic."
