Iran Proposes Summit With Syrian, Iraqi Presidents

November 20, 2006 -- Key Iraqi lawmakers have told the Associated Press that Iran has invited the Iraqi and Syrian presidents to Tehran for a summit with President Mahmud Ahmadinejad to discuss ways to stop the violence in Iraq.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has reportedly already accepted and is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on November 25. The United States has frequently accused Iran and Syria of fueling the violence in Iraq.
