A Chevron subsidiary -- Chevron Neftegaz -- will initially own 70 percent of the joint venture, with Gazprom eventually to increase its share to 50 percent.
The joint venture in the Yamal-Nenetsk district in northwest Siberia will be called Northern Taiga Neftegaz.
