UN Experts Urge Iran To Stop 'Imminent' Execution Of Ethnic Arabs

January 12, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- Three UN human rights experts have urged Iran to stop the "imminent" execution of seven Iranian ethnic Arabs, and grant them a fair and public trial.

The UN rapporteurs said in a statement that relatives were told earlier this week the men would be executed "in the next few days."

The seven are accused of crimes including having tried to overthrow the government after receving training by U.S. and British forces in iraq. Three other men were executed in December.
