U.S. Senator Clinton Meets Afghan President In Kabul

(RFE/RL) January 14, 2007 -- U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, a Democrat who is considering running for president in 2008, met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul today.

In Baghdad on January 13, Clinton said she doubted the Iraqi government would live up to promises it had made about cracking down on violence.


Clinton was due to travel to Pakistan later in the day for talks with President Pervez Musharraf. She is accompanied by fellow Democratic Senator Evan Bayh and Republican Congressman John McHugh.
