OSCE Concerned About Media In Bosnia

(RFE/RL) January 26, 2007 -- International officials today raised concerns about media freedoms in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The government of Bosnia's Serb entity, the Republika Srpska, recently barred officials from speaking to journalists from the country's public television channel, BHT1.

In a joint statement, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the high international representative in Bosnia, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, called on the OSCE's top official on media freedoms to assess the situation.

Bosnian Serbs have accused BHT1 of political bias.
