Baghdad Suicide Blast Kills At Least 130

(RFE/RL) February 3, 2007 -- At least 130 people were killed and 300 wounded in Iraq today when a suicide truck bomb slammed into a food market in central Baghdad.

It was the deadliest attack in the Iraqi capital this year.

Reports say the attacker was driving a truck carrying food when he detonated his explosives, destroying stores and market stalls in the mostly Shi'ite Sadriyah neighborhood.

In the northern city of Kirkuk today, a series of car bombings killed at least two people and wounded more than 30 others. Authorities imposed a nighttime curfew on the city following the attacks.

Authorities also imposed curfews on two other cities, Mosul and Samarra, after outbreaks of violence there as well.
