February 13, 2007 -- The European Union today announced the launch of a 20 million euro ($26 million) recovery and development program for Russia's North Caucasus region.
The program will cover Chechnya and the neighboring republics of Ingushetia and North Ossetia.
It aims to boost health care, education, and income-generating activities.
The program is being conducted together with the United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
