February 25, 2007 -- Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad says Iran will not retreat in the face of Western pressure on its nuclear program, comparing the program to a train with no brakes.
Local media say Ahmadinejad made the comment in a speech in Tehran today.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mohammadi is quoted as saying the Islamic republic is ready for any possible scenario, including war.
The comments come a day after U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney said Washington would not rule out military action against Iran to prevent it from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
Iran, which denies it is seeking nuclear weapons, this week ignored a UN Security Council deadline to halt sensitive nuclear activities.
