Afghan officials say two police officers were also wounded in the attack, which occurred late on March 10.
The same night in neighboring Zabul Province, officials say Taliban militants attacked police on the main highway between Kabul and Kandahar. Two Taliban were reported killed and four wounded.
In the western Farah Province, a suicide car bomb targeting a U.S. and Afghan military convoy killed a local police officer and injured three others.
Near the city of Jalalabad in the eastern Nangarhar Province, Afghan and coalition forces arrested five people believed to have been transporting and hiding Al-Qaeda and other fighters.
