Germany has almost 3,000 troops in northern Afghanistan, where it commands the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.

, a group linked to Al-Qaeda called The Voice of the Caliphate warned on the Internet that Austria and Germany could become terror targets unless they withdraw their troops from the country.
