At Least 28 Taliban Killed In Afghan Fighting

The Kajaki Dam in Helmand Province (Courtesy Photo) March 22, 2007 -- Afghan officials say at least 28 Taliban fighters were killed in clashes with government and NATO forces in Helmand Province today.

The fighting was in two parts of Helmand's Gereshk district, about 50 kilometers southwest of the strategic Kajaki Dam.


Thousands of NATO and Afghan troops have been engaged for weeks in Operation Achilles, an offensive aimed at Taliban militants within 150 kilometers of the dam.
