Groups of supporters met the cortege that brought Gamsakhurdia's remains back from Chechnya. Many lit candles and held portraits of the former president, who ruled in the early 1990s.
Gamsakhurdia's reburial is planned for March 31.
It is still unclear, however, where in Tbilisi he will be reburied.

Human Rights In Georgia
NOT A ROSY PICTURE: Ana Dolidze, former president of the Georgian Young Lawyers Association and a visiting scholar at Columbia University, told an RFE/RL briefing that many obstacles remain before Georgia's courts and law enforcement organs will be able to ensure human rights.
