Renewed Clashes In Southeastern Turkey Kill Seven

(RFE/RL) May 6, 2007 -- Turkish officials say that two Turkish soldiers and five guerrillas with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed late on May 5 and today in southeastern Turkey.

The outlawed PKK has been fighting for a homeland in mainly Kurdish southeast Turkey since 1984.

Ankara blames the PKK for more than 30,000 deaths since then.
