Russian Journalist Killed In Iraq

Russian photographer Dmitry Chebotayev (AFP) May 7, 2007 -- Russia's ambassador to Baghdad, Vladimir Chamov, today confirmed that a Russian journalist has been killed in Iraq.

Dmitry Chebotayev and six U.S. coalition soldiers died of injuries after their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb on May 6 in Iraq's Diyala Governorate.


The 29-year-old Chebotayev was a Moscow-based freelance photographer for the Russian edition of "Newsweek" magazine, Russia's "Kommersant" daily, and the European Pressphoto Agency (epa).
