May 8, 2007 -- NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer today had talks with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on how to tackle the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan.
Officials say the talks focused on joint measures needed to secure the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and to deny Taliban sanctuary on both sides of the frontier.
NATO forces have conducted several offensive operations against Taliban fighters in recent weeks.
