May 16, 2007 -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei today said he supports U.S.-Iran talks on Iraq.
But state-run television quotes Khamenei as saying the talks will only touch upon the "responsibility of the occupiers" in Iraq.
Washington and Tehran have said they will meet in Baghdad in the next few weeks to discuss security in Iraq, but have not announced a specific date. Iran has said it is willing to hold the rare meeting in order to help neighboring Iraq.
There have been few face-to-face meetings between the two governments since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
