At Least 12 Dead In Latest Iraq Violence

An Iraqi soldier at a Baghdad checkpoint (epa) May 18, 2007 -- Iraqi police say a suicide car bomber today killed three police officers south of the capital.

In a separate incident today in the city of Ba'qubah, north of Baghdad, insurgents reportedly attacked a coalition base, sparking a battle that left at least six militants dead.


Also today, the U.S. military said three of its soldiers were killed on May 17 when their patrol struck a roadside bomb in the town of Al-Mussayyib, south of Baghdad.


Meanwhile, massive search is continuing for three missing U.S. soldiers believed to have been abducted by insurgents linked to Al-Qaeda.
