Iraq Parliament Expected To Postpone Oil-Bill Debate

A session of Iraq's parliament (file photo) (epa) July 4, 2007 -- Today's scheduled debate in the Iraqi parliament of a draft oil law may be delayed after officials in Iraq's northern Kurdistan region said they had yet to see a copy of the document.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki announced on July 3 that his government had already approved the landmark bill, which is meant to ensure a fair distribution of the country's oil reserves, which are located mainly in the Shi'ite south and the Kurdish north.
