Landslides Kill 23 In Northwestern Pakistan

(RFE/RL) July 8 -- Pakistani officials say that landslides have killed 23 villagers and destroyed houses in a remote mountainous part of northwestern Pakistan.

A police official said the landslides, triggered by heavy rain overnight, also blocked a stretch of the Karakoram highway that links Pakistan to China.

Police said women and children are among the dead in the stricken villages.
