Brazilian Court Issues Warrant For Russian Billionaire

Boris Berezovsky in London last month (epa) July 13, 2007 --  A Brazilian court has issued an arrest warrant for the London-based Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky on money-laundering charges connected to a Brazilian soccer team.
The court on July 12 said Interpol will be asked to carry out the overseas arrests of Berezovsky and several of the soccer team's directors.

Brazilian authorities say Berezovsky is an investor in Media Sports Investments, an international fund of investors that runs the Corinthians soccer team.

Both the team and the fund have denied any wrongdoing.

Berezovsky, a political opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been granted asylum in Britain and London has resisted Russian attempts to have him extradited.
