Serbian Minister Unveils New Plan For Kosovo Talks

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic in June (epa) July 28, 2007 -- Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic has unveiled a plan to restart negotiations on the future of Kosovo.

Jeremic, who is in Washington, said the plan would guarantee the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo "the broadest possible self-governance."

He said talks should not be limited by time or have a predetermined outcome.

Jeremic said this was the problem with the Western-backed UN Security Council resolution that was withdrawn last week after Russia raised objections.

Jeremic later discussed Kosovo with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who urged Serbia to "cooperate" on Kosovo.
