Suicide Blast In Kandahar Kills 15

U.S. soldiers in Kandahar in April 2007. (epa) KANDAHAR, Afghanistan; August 18, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- An explosion in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar Province has killed 15 people.

The blast, which witnesses say was caused by a suicide car bomber, appeared to target the base of a U.S. security firm.


RFE/RL's correspondent in Kandahar reports that many more were injured in the blast. Most of the victims are said to be Afghan security workers and civilians.
