September 3, 2007 -- Thousands of people have remembered the tragic end to the Beslan school-hostage drama three years ago today with a minute's silence in the Russian republic of North Ossetia.
Children released white balloons in memory of the 334 people killed during the siege, most of whom were were children.
Chechen terrorists seized the school on September 1, 2004, taking 1,100 pupils, teachers, and parents hostage.
The siege was brought to a bloody end by Russian security forces two days later.
